LGBTQIA Life

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with numerous campus and community partners, supports ongoing programs and initiatives which celebrate and support the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and asexual-identified individuals. Wofford Resources

Spectrum:
Wofford’s student organization for LGBTQIA-identified students and their allies, host meetings and programs throughout the academic year. Be sure to attend the interest fair held at the beginning of fall semester to sign-up for emails and updates.

Ally Training:
Wofford has offered LGBTQIA Ally Trainings to students since 2012. These trainings educate students, faculty and staff on issues facing LGBTQIA-identified individuals and provide valuable next-steps on ways to be more inclusive and affirming of the LGBTQIA community. During the 2017-18 academic year, 40+ faculty and staff participated in ally training. If you would like to schedule a training with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, please click here. 

Pride Month:
In April 2018, Wofford held its inaugural Pride Month celebration. Events including an LGBTQIA alumni panel and reception, community conversation on the queer experience at Wofford and much more.

The Office of Residence Life:
All Wofford resident assistants (RAs) participate in LGBTQIA Ally Training. The Office of Residence Life also has specific policies for students that identify as transgender regarding affirming housing options. Community Resources

Upstate Pride
Upstate Pride is a non-profit organization founded in Spartanburg to empower people of all sexualities and genders in the 10-county Upstate South Carolina region. They host various educational and social programs, including the annual Pride March and Celebration in Barnet Park.

SC Equality
SC Equality works to advance the civil and human rights of LGBTQIA-identified South Carolinians and their families.

Gender Benders
Gender Benders is a grassroots organization for transgender/gender-diverse folks across the Southeast.

Piedmont Care
Located in downtown Spartanburg, Piedmont Care is an educational and advocacy organization dedicated to the prevention of HIV/AIDS. It offers free and confidential rapid-response HIV screenings and other services.
