Since 1949, outstanding high school seniors have been competing at Wofford for scholarships based on academic achievement, leadership and character. Scholarships range between $60,000 and $250,000 over a four-year period.

Program Information

  • Wofford Scholars is the largest merit-based scholarship program at Wofford.
  • Scholar nominees are invited to attend Wofford Scholars Day in fall of their senior year to compete for a variety of scholarships.

Program Qualifications

Wofford Scholar Nominees should:
  • Rank in the top 10% of their class.
  • Score a 1300 on the PSAT/SAT or 28 on the PLAN/ACT.
  • Be active in leadership and service roles in their school/community.

Nomination Process & Deadline

  • Nominations for students graduating in 2025 may be submitted from now through Oct. 20, 2024.
  • There are two ways in which a student may be nominated:
    • Self-nomination: If you meet the minimum requirements for Wofford Scholars stated above, nominate yourself here.
    • Nomination from High School Counselor
      • High school counselors may nominate individual students through this nomination form.
      • High school counselors may nominate multiple students by completing our bulk nomination spreadsheet. Do not copy and paste into the spreadsheet, you must fill out each field individually. Send your bulk nomination spreadsheet to admission@wofford.edu as an excel file.

Next Steps After Nomination

  • To be considered for the Wofford Scholars Program, scholar nominees must:
    • Submit your Common Application to Wofford either Early Decision (binding; Nov. 1 deadline) or Early Action (non-binding; Nov. 15 deadline).
    • Submit a Secondary School Report Form (completed by high school counselor) and an official transcript. Letters of recommendation are encouraged.
    • Complete a Wofford Scholars Interview in November 2024. Nominees will receive a registration link via email in September.

Wofford Scholars Scholarship Levels

Scholarships range from $15,000 to $25,000 per year and are renewable for up to three years after your first year, if eligibility requirements defined in the student’s financial aid award letter are met. These awards are based on participation in the Wofford Scholars Program.

Scholarships range from $27,000 to $30,000 per year and are renewable for up to three years after your first year, if eligibility requirements defined in the student’s financial aid award letter are met. These awards are based on participation in the Wofford Scholars Program.

The Charles E. Daniel Scholarship is among the most prestigious scholarships awarded by Wofford College. Two scholarships, covering tuition, fees, food, and housing, are awarded to two incoming first-year students. Recipients are selected based on their extraordinary leadership potential, outstanding academic achievement and interest in serving others.

The Richardson Family Scholarship is the highest honor awarded to an entering first-year student at Wofford. This scholarship is awarded through the Wofford Scholars Program and includes an additional on-campus interview with college representatives and the Richardson family.
