The environmental studies program integrates and builds upon Wofford’s strong programs in the sciences, social sciences and humanities and provides a cross-curricular program of study that requires foundational work in all three areas. Students study the environment in ways that excite their particular interests as they pursue either a B.A. or B.S.
Eric Kocher, assistant professor of environmental studies, explores domestic encounters with planetary forces, and his writing on the topic has appeared in a variety of national publications. In the classroom, he works to help students understand how environmental ideas from literature, art, film and digital media shape our treatment of the environments in which we live.
John Farrell majored in environmental studies. He works as the development services coordinator for the town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He oversees the development program and is involved with the program that monitors and improves the town’s water quality. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in public administration.
