Re: COVID-19 Booster Update

For several weeks now, our COVID-19 positives have declined to the point that we have no diagnosed active positive cases on campus (as of Tuesday, March 8). We also acknowledge the prevalence of Omicron infections since late December and what that has meant for immunity. In response to these developments and after consulting with healthcare professionals, college leaders have reassessed our approach to COVID-19 booster requirements.

By 5 p.m., Monday, April 10, all students, faculty and staff must upload one of the following to the Wellness Center patient portal on my.Wofford.edu:

Boosters are strongly encouraged and remain the preferred response. Being fully vaccinated and boosted means that students and faculty are less likely to miss class and staff are less likely to miss work for isolation or quarantine. COVID-19 vaccines will still be required for incoming first-year students.

Masks are now optional on campus except in classrooms or at individual request in private spaces.

Finally, the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) is closing its free testing site on campus; Wednesday, March 9 was the last day. Students and employees who are unvaccinated will need to submit the results of a weekly at-home or private test. The Wellness Center has some of these available upon request.
