Historical note: The Physical Plant is the administrative division of Wofford College responsible for the maintenance of the college's facilities. The director of Physical Plant reports to the Senior Vice President. The campus has grown from only 5 homes and the Main Building on about 40 acres in 1854 to more than 30 buildings on over 100 acres.
Organization: These records primarily are concerned with documenting the history of the college's buildings and of specific structures, monuments, or areas of the campus. They are less concerned with the administrative records of the Physical Plant office. The buildings and grounds files are arranged in alphabetical order in 5 series: academic buildings, homes, athletic facilities, residence halls, and grounds.
