This online application is used by many undergraduate institutions and allows students to apply to multiple schools with only one submitted application. Wofford exclusively uses the Common App.
As part of the Common Application, a teacher or high school official must fill out an evaluation of the applicant. In addition to the completed form, the same teacher or high school official must submit a written recommendation in the space provided. Both sections are required. The Teacher Evaluation form must come directly from the school and cannot be accepted if received directly from the student (unless in an official sealed envelope from the institution). This form can be sent in electronically via the Common Application or mail.
In this step of the Application Checklist, you will notify Wofford whether or not you will be enrolling for the upcoming semester or declining your admission. Wofford prefers that you reply online through your myWofford account.
Submission of test scores for admission is optional for domestic students. If you feel your scores reflect your academic ability, please submit them, but scores are not required for admission. The ACT consists of four multiple choice sections, including English, mathematics, science, and reading, as well as a writing supplement. The old SAT consists of three multiple choice sections; reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as a writing supplement. The new SAT consists of two sections; reading and writing (together), and mathematics, as well as an optional essay. Wofford currently accepts scores from both the old and new SAT formats. The TOEFL is for international students and is a test that consists of reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections. If you take the ACT or SAT multiple times, send us all of your scores, and we will take the highest score from each section to create the highest possible score. Wofford accepts any test scores you want to send. ACT and SAT scores need to be sent by the test service or shown on your transcript to be considered official. TOEFL scores need to be sent in by ETS.
Your high school counselor needs to send your school report form and your official transcript. They can also submit your teacher evaluation.
All applicants are considered for merit-based financial aid. No additional application is required. However, some scholarships do require a separate application process:
The Wofford Scholars program is the largest merit-based scholarship program at Wofford College. In order to be nominated, a student should be ranked in the top 10 percent of the class and have achieved a combined score of 1300 (Critical Reading and Math) on the SAT or a 28 on the ACT. In order to be considered for the Wofford Scholars program, your high school counselor must submit a nomination through our website. More information on the Wofford Scholars page.
The Bonner Scholars program allows students to receive scholarship dollars through volunteer service. In order to be considered for the Bonner Scholars program, students must submit a separate application and must demonstrate financial need and commitment to community.
This is a form required by US immigration law for international students to verify that they have enough money available to fund their education in the US. The student’s bank and parents must complete this form and submit it along with a bank statement. Including scholarship money and the family’s personal funds, all international students must show the ability to pay the full cost of attendance in order to receive an I-20 for their F-1 Visa application.
