Music Scholarship

Merit-based scholarships in music are available for vocalists and instrumentalists regardless of the student’s program of study. The scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are renewable on a yearly basis. Scholarship applications must be received by February 1.

Vocal

Vocal scholarships are available to singers who participate in the choral ensembles at Wofford. For the audition, students are asked to perform two contrasting vocal selections that showcase their range and ability. At least one classical or musical theatre selection is preferred but not required. Please also prepare a one-page resume of your musical training and experience (i.e. private instruction, choral ensembles, musical productions, honors and awards). Students may audition in person, virtually over Teams or by submitting a video. To schedule an audition or for more information, contact Dr. Aaron Harp, director of choral and vocal studies, at harpar@wofford.edu.

Concert/Jazz/Pep Band

Interested students have the option to audition in-person, virtually over Teams or by submitting a video. Students should be prepared to play excerpts from two contrasting etudes, sonata or concerto movements, or All-Region/All-State audition pieces. Major scales, chromatic scale, and sight-reading are also part of the audition. To schedule your audition or for more information, contact Dr. Susan Nicholson at 864-597-4597 or nicholsonse@wofford.edu.

String

String scholarships are available to instrumentalists who participate in the string ensemble. All string auditions will be virtual. Submit your audition by email to Dr. Aaron Harp, music department chair, at harpar@wofford.edu. Please include in your email a link to a brief (5-7 minute) video of two contrasting pieces and a one-page resume of your musical experience to include: how long you have played, private instruction history (if any), ensemble experience and an overview of performed repertoire.
