Learning Work is a guided internship program. Students work in independently secured internships during the month of January, overseen remotely by a Wofford instructor.
Learning Work enables students to build their professional network and enhance their resume while gaining firsthand experience in their desired field. With a commitment of 30-40 hours per week, students immerse themselves in a professional environment alongside peers exploring various career paths.
While students are responsible for arranging their own internships, Wofford offers assistance if needed. Whether entering the program with a specific internship already secured or seeking help from the Career Center, students should apply as soon as possible through the Learning Work portal. Through the application process, applicants without internships get guidance securing one, while those already placed in an internship can be processed early into a learning work cohort. Start Now!
Learning Work Interim: Application Process (see the Wofford Calendar for specific dates)
The Early Decision Deadline is in early October, but students are encouraged to continue working with Career Services to find an internship up until the final deadline, late in the fall semester. If you continue to look for an internship past the Early Decision Deadline, you must register for an on-campus interim as a backup. Once you find an internship, submit your completed application. If your proposal meets all the requirements, it will be accepted if space remains in our Learning Work classes. (There is no guarantee that all submitted proposals will be accepted.)
Upon securing an internship and gaining acceptance into a Learning Work Interim class, a Learning Work faculty member will communicate to the student the requirements and expectations associated with the internship. All Learning Work students are expected to attend an on campus interim class in Early December.
