Wofford Behavior Intervention Team is a group of professional members of the Wofford faculty and staff that takes concerns regarding student behavior, discusses the concerns and determines whether and what type of intervention is needed for the student. The team monitors the agreed-upon student intervention.
The mission of the Wofford Behavior Intervention team is to aid the college in maintaining a safe environment and to promote student, faculty and staff health and well-being.
Anyone who is a member of the Wofford community, including faculty, staff, students and parents, can make a referral to the team. To aid the team in assessment and intervention, there are a variety of flags that can be raised on Starfish.
To report your concerns to the Behavior Intervention Team, please raise a flag on Starfish, accessible on myWofford using the category that is appropriate for the circumstances. Please remember that reporting a student of concern to the Behavioral Intervention Team does not preclude taking additional actions as needed, such as contacting the Wellness Center and Counseling Services, the Office of Campus Safety and/or the dean of students directly.
To aid the Wofford Behavior Intervention Team in assessment and intervention, the team has segmented student behavior into several categories, including alert behavior, escalating behavior and threat behavior.
Once a concern or report is disseminated to the team, members will begin the process of determining what type of intervention is needed for the student, create a plan of intervention and monitor the agreed-upon intervention.
Once the intervention process has begun and if more information is needed, the Behavior Intervention Team may contact you to meet with the team.
