SPARTANBURG, S.C. – U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) will be guest speakers on Friday, March 28, at Wofford College as part of its Guest Lecture Series on Health Care Policy and Administration. They will discuss “Understanding the Affordable Care Act.”

The series, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Wofford Department of Government.

Scott and Gowdy will speak at 2 p.m. in Leonard Auditorium in Main Building. 

Prior to being sworn in to the Senate, Scott served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011-2013, where he was member of House leadership and sat on the influential House Rules Committee. He also served on Charleston County Council for 13 years, including four terms as chair and in the S.C. House of Representatives for two years, where he was elected chairman of the Freshman Caucus and House Whip.

Representing South Carolina’s 4th District, Gowdy serves on the House Committees on Education and the Workforce, Ethics, Judiciary, and Oversight and Government Reform. He also serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security for the Judiciary Committee. Gowdy graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1982, Baylor University in 1986 with a degree in history, and the University Of South Carolina School Of Law in 1989. As 7th Circuit Solicitor, Gowdy led an office of 25 attorneys and 65 total employees.
