“Rising from the Shifting Screen”

This new exhibition features three contemporary artists who utilize textiles as a locus of memory and resistance. The participating artists—Hellen Ascoli, Kelly Taylor Mitchell and Lars Shimabukuro—adopt techniques as disparate as backstrap loom weaving, beaded maskmaking and papermaking as mnemonic devices for engaging layered histories, both personal and collective.
