RE: Change to Wellness Level 2
We are excited to announce that effective at noon today (Monday, March 1), we are moving to LEVEL 2 of the Community Wellness Guidelines. Prompted by low case counts and low positive rates in our surveillance testing, we now believe we can safely move to this new level. We congratulate all and thank those whose diligence makes this possible.
It is important to remember core safety protocols remain in effect at all levels of the guidelines. Wearing face masks, social distancing and proper hand washing are still our best defense against transmission of the virus. This becomes even more critical as gathering sizes get larger. Pick up KN95 masks at the post office to protect you and your friends even further.
We will continue to monitor case counts and test results from our campus surveillance testing. Your participation in the testing is necessary for us to measure positivity rates on campus. Please make sure you test when you are selected. We hope that we can remain at this level or lower, and we will continue to evaluate the levels on a weekly basis. Let’s keep the momentum going and finish this spring in person and together.
What does LEVEL 2 mean?
- 4-person maximum occupancy in traditional residence hall rooms.
- 8-person maximum occupancy in apartments.
- Only Wofford College residential students allowed in residence halls or apartments.
- Guests are permitted on campus, but socialization with people from off campus is limited to outdoor or public spaces.
- The maximum number of people permitted on an apartment porch is 10. Physical distancing and masks are required.
- Non-academic outdoor gatherings may not exceed 25 people without prior approval from the Division of Campus Life and Student Development. Students or organizations wishing to host an event in-person must first receive approval. Submit event proposals.
- Participants from outside the college community are permitted at in-person events, given that they complete a symptom checker and provide current contact information to event organizers.
- Food and drinks should not be served at indoor events but may be permitted at outdoor events with prior approval from the appropriate college office(s).
- Alcoholic beverages may be permitted to be possessed/consumed by students who are 21 years or older at student organizational events if organizers are granted permission from the Campus Life and Student Development staff.
