Jeremiah Tate ’17, who was in the print issue of the summer Wofford Today for his participation in SCICU Day at the State House, and Cameron Pappas ’16 both passed away this summer. The Wofford community grieves their loss.
Tate was a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team. A native of Columbia, S.C., Tate was an accounting major, a Bonner Scholar and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Edward K. Hardin Pre-Law Society. He had served on Campus Union and was one of 251 nominees for the Allstate Good Works Team.
Pappas, a government major from Pauline, S.C., was well known for his love of the Dave Matthews Band; he just returned from his 26th concert. He worked with his parents at Bell Laundry and Cleaners in Spartanburg.
Also in the SCICU Day at the State House selfie are (bottom to top, left to right): Director of Financial Aid Carolyn Sparks, Ryan Carter ’16, Tate, Allen Lollis ’15, Lillian Fant ’17, Robert Massey ’16, Mark Olencki ’75 (college photographer) and Zach Morrow ’16. Many of these students have posted the photo on their social media pages as a tribute to Tate.
