On Friday, July 24, the social media accounts for the Wofford Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) were full of images of players, coaches, staff and fans taking part in a virtual 5K to show support for the end of racism.
“SAAC was extremely happy with the response on social media,” says women’s basketball student-athlete Elena Pulanco who helped organize the event. “A big shout-out and ‘Thank you’ again to everyone who participated! We had over 75 participants who tagged us in their posts, and I’m sure many more put in the work as well. It was amazing to see such a wide display of positive action, bringing us all together for a common goal – Wofford students, student-athletes, incoming students, alumni, professors, faculty and staff. Even people outside of Wofford joined the event.”
The race was the first of many events that SAAC has planned for the 2020-21 academic year as they continue the dialogue on racism throughout the semester to help the Wofford community.
