Campus Security Authority Resources

To ensure that students, employees and visitors are aware of the safety and security status of college campuses and are better able to take responsibility of their own safety, the Clery Act requires institutions to gather and publish data from individuals identified as Campus Security Authorities or CSAs. CSAs are:

  • People or offices responsible for campus security.
  • People or offices to which campus policy directs that crimes be reported.
  • Those with significant responsibility for student and campus activities.

CSA Training

Below is a very brief PowerPoint training presentation that outlines the roles and duties of Campus Security Authorities.

Below is a brief quiz to demonstrate CSA knowledge of duties and responsibilities under the Clery Act:

Training requirement: The college identifies a list of CSAs for the campus annually and requires training for identified CSAs on a yearly basis.

What to report?

Only certain crimes need to be reported, such as violent crimes, crimes involving sexual assault or dating/domestic violence and alcohol and drug abuse violations. For a complete list of what needs to be reported, along with crime definitions, see the document below.
