1. What is Workday?

Workday integrates finance, human resources and student information systems into a single cloud-based platform, tailored for the modern workflow. The right tools and resources are key to supporting Wofford’s commitment to improvement. With Workday, Wofford can reduce manual processes, eliminate paper transactions and increase our ability to make real-time, data-driven decisions.

2. When will we start to use Workday?

Workday’s finance and human resources functionalities will go live in July 2024. Leading up to this date, you will receive important updates and training on how to use Workday effectively from day one.

Workday Student will go live in 2026.

3. What systems will Workday replace?

As of July 2024, Workday will replace Banner’s finance and human resources functionalities. This means tasks previously completed in BannerWeb related to finance and human resources will transition to Workday. You’ll also use Workday, instead of Employee Navigator (E3), to enroll or change your employee benefits. Additionally, Workday Student will go live in 2026, replacing Banner Student admin pages, Banner Student self-service, Ellucian DegreeWorks, and Faculty Reports@Wofford reporting, along with many Connect.Wofford.Edu web applications.

4. What about academic software like DegreeWorks?

While Workday will eventually replace certain academic software systems, including Ellucian DegreeWorks, this transition is planned to occur gradually over the following two years. Rest assured, detailed information and training will be provided well in advance of these changes.

5. What are some of the benefits of Workday?

  • A single location to manage your HR and finance information: With Workday you no longer need to remember multiple passwords for different sites or go through time consuming paper approval processes. Manage your personal information, submit expense reports, select your benefits and review organizational information in one place – Workday!
  • Available on any device: Whether you are working from campus, the comfort of your home or on the go, Workday is available via your desktop and on mobile devices (both iOS and Android).
  • User friendly, intuitive cloud-based system: From more reliable and relevant search capabilities to suggested tasks and featured applications, announcements and personalized recommendations – you’ll have a Workday experience that is uniquely yours.

6. How will I log in to Workday?

Starting July 1, 2024, users will use their normal Wofford credentials to sign in to Workday.

7. What does “self-service” mean and how will it impact me?

As an employee, you’ll manage your personal information—changing your home address, adding an emergency contact, updating your payroll information—without having to submit a request form or reaching out to Human Resources.

If you’re a manager, you’ll be able to approve various requests from your direct reports and see real-time data on your teams, such as PTO calendars.

8. What Workday resources are available to me?

There are many available resources to support you on this Workday journey:

  • Workday on myWofford: An internal site that will serve as your one-stop shop for Workday announcements, help guides, FAQs and information.
  • Help guides: Help guides are available to provide employees and managers with guidance on how to perform simple tasks in Workday. Reference these if you want to learn something new or just want a quick refresher.
  • FAQ: This FAQ document will be updated periodically with new information. Check in regularly to see if your question has been answered.
  • Training: You’ll have the opportunity to attend in-person or virtual training to learn more about employee self-service, manager self-service and/or actions specific to different roles in Workday, like Cost Center Manager.
