Workday makes it easy for managers and supervisors to view and manage their personal information, as well as manage staff and student workers.

New Managers

Workday will be Wofford College’s system of record. Phase 1 includes human resources, payroll and finance. Phase 2 will include student records and financial aid – no launch date has been announced yet.

Employee Self-Service

Managers can manage their personal information within Workday, such as update emergency contacts and view tax information.

Additionally, Workday can be utilized as an employee directory, when needing to find contact information for other staff, faculty, adjuncts and student workers.

Compensation and Payroll

Managers can view their salary, update direct deposit payment elections and update W-4 information.

Benefits

Eligible managers can view benefit information for themselves and eligible dependents, as well as update beneficiaries. Managers can add or change benefits for themselves or eligible dependents due to a life event such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption.

Time Tracking and Absence

  • Salaried managers will not need to enter a timesheet in Workday.
  • Hourly managers will need to submit hours worked on their bi-weekly timesheet.
  • All managers will request time off as an absence request. This includes vacation and sick time, bereavement, jury duty and voting.
  • Managers who oversee staff will approve timesheets bi-weekly and staff absence requests upon receipt.
  • Managers who oversee student employees will approve timesheets bi-weekly.

* You will be able to approve timesheets through both the web and Workday app.

Recruiting and Employment

All recruiting activities, including job postings, applications, background checks, hiring and onboarding, take place in Workday. Managers can recruit and hire new staff or students.

  • Workday can parse an applicant’s résumé, saving time entering data.
  • Managers can review candidates and move desired candidates forward.

Budgets

Budget managers, known as Cost Center Managers, can view and adjust their department’s financials, including budgets and expenditures.

A new role known as Cost Center Financial Analyst was created to provide financial visibility for employees who are not Cost Center Managers but oversee budget activities for their department.
