Victoria Nwankudu ’19, an international affairs and Spanish major from Florence, S.C., was the student recipient of the Mary Mildred Sullivan Award. Will Randall ’19, a biology and Spanish major from Greenville, S.C., was the student Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award winner and the college’s Honor Graduate with a perfect 4.0 average.

The college presented the Mary Mildred Sullivan and Algernon Sydney Sullivan awards to Wanda Cheeks Holmes, a community activist and grassroots leaders, and Mike James ’73, former chairman of the Wofford College Board of Trustees.

Dr. Katherine Anne “Katy” Close ’83, internist, human rights activist and former Wofford board member, was awarded an honorary degree. She also gave the Commencement address to the Class of 2019.

Dr. Charles Kay, professor of philosophy, retired from the college after 33 years of service. He was granted emeritus status.
