Army ROTC has been one of America’s leading sources of scholarships since 1919, making awards to thousands of the highest caliber students each year. Selection of winners is based on academic record, SAT or ACT test results, evaluations of school officials, extracurricular activities, leadership and athletic activities, a personal interview and physical aptitude exam.
In addition to the awarded scholarship that includes the current cost of room and board, less other grants and/or scholarships, scholarship recipients receive a flat rate of $600 per semester for books and supplies as well as tax-free monthly stipends of $420.
Student are expected to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid each academic year.
The four-year scholarship is awarded to students starting college as first-year students. The student must complete the SAT/ACT. The minimum score range for consideration is 1,000 SAT or composite 19 ACT. In addition, students must have good high school cumulative unweighted grade point average (generally 3.5 or higher) and be admitted into Wofford as a full-time student. Additional consideration is given to students who demonstrate leadership potential in extracurricular activities such as athletics, religious organizations, Boy or Girl scouting or a part-time job. The three-year scholarship is awarded to students who have completed one year of college. Performance in academic studies (including military science, if already enrolled in ROTC), successfully passing the Army Physical Fitness Test, a personal interview and observation by the PMS and motivation towards an Army career are considered for selection. The requirements for the two-year scholarship are the same as the three-year scholarship.
The requirements for this scholarship are the same as for other scholarships, however, this scholarship guarantees your service in the United States Army Reserve or National Guard and not in the Regular Army.
Cadet Command Basic Camp provides an additional opportunity for students who have missed the first and second years of ROTC to fulfill required training. Successful graduates are eligible for a two-year scholarship to finish their academic career.
If enlisted in the Army, you may qualify for a four-, three- or two-year scholarship. Green to Gold applicants, in addition to the requirements above, must complete two years of active duty prior to discharge and three months of service for every month of specialized training received. Applicants need a score of 180 or higher with a minimum of 60 points in each event on the Army Physical Fitness Test, a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous college work, a GT score of 110 or higher and other selection criteria as prescribed by regulation. A professor of military science must also recommend you for the scholarship. SAT/ACT minimum is not required to apply for a two-year scholarship
