Social Media Engagement Policy
Objective: The primary goal of engaging on social media platforms is to foster a positive and supportive community while upholding the values and reputation of Wofford College. Engagement should be thoughtful, respectful and in alignment with the college’s mission and values.
Guidelines for commenting (as Wofford College on flagship accounts)
- Authenticity and transparency: All comments and interactions must be genuine and transparent, reflecting the values and ethos of Wofford College.
- Respectful communication: Maintain a positive and professional tone in all interactions, promoting a welcoming and supportive environment. Direct users to DMs or offer alternative communication when diffusing controversial topics.
- Accuracy and reliability: Ensure that any information shared is accurate and verifiable.
- Timeliness: Aim to respond promptly to comments and messages.
- Style and voice: All comments will follow AP style and use “we” or the collective voice.
Guidelines for resharing (on Wofford College flagship accounts)
- A student, alumni, faculty or staff achievement.
- Posts must be positive and uplifting for the college.
- Posts that mention competing institutions will not be reshared.
- The exception is when Wofford College partners with another institution.
What prompts a comment (from a Wofford College flagship account)
- @woffordcollege posts that have asked a question for engagement and require a follow-up answer in the comment section.
- A valid question.
- A student, alumni, faculty or staff achievement.
