Wofford’s gift year coincides with the calendar year and runs Jan. 1-Dec. 31.
All donors are listed by giving level within their constituent group in our online Honor Roll of Contributors, unless they request to remain anonymous.
For a mailed gift you can include the notation on the check itself or enclose a note. For online gifts, the system will ask if the gift is a memorial or honor gift. Wofford will notify the honoree or the family about your gift (amounts are not included).
Wofford relies on the support of the entire college community, including parents of alumni. Many parents of alumni continue their relationship and support of Wofford long after their child has graduated.
Encourage your child to update their information with the college so that we can let him/her know about events, important announcements and other opportunities. They may do so by emailing their new information to alumni@wofford.edu.
We make every effort to be accurate in our pledge and gift recording, but occasionally a mistake is made. Please feel free to contact the Office of Philanthropy and Engagement at 864-597-4200 or engage@wofford.edu in order to make the necessary adjustment.
• The Wofford Fund is the college's annual fund. Gifts to the Wofford Fund may be designated to five allocations: Area of Greatest Need, Academic Scholarships, Athletic Scholarships: Terrier Club, Faculty and Staff Development, and Student Experiences. The Wofford Fund works behind-the-scenes to make a Wofford education possible by filling the gap where tuition dollars end and the endowment begins. Learn more about The Wofford Fund.
Annual gifts (such as those to The Wofford Fund and the Terrier Club) support the operating budget and are spent during the current fiscal year. An endowed gift is invested, and the interest off of the principal is used to fund a scholarship, professorship or program. A capital gift is used to build or renovate a facility on the campus.
Yes, you can indicate on a check, remittance envelope or on the online gift form under “Comments” that you wish to remain anonymous. Your gift will still count in your class or constituent group totals, but your name will not be published.

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.
Visit our Matching Gifts page or call your human resource department to see if your company or organization participates in a matching gifts program.
Companies have varying procedures regarding their matching gift programs, but in most cases you are required to start the process by sending in a form to Wofford for verification of the gift.
Yes, matching gifts are counted in your gift total. However, if your gift is made near the end of the calendar year, the match may not be received until the following year.
