Perry Henson

Director of Counseling and Accessibility Services

Perry Henson is the director of counseling and accessibility services. She is a 1996 graduate of Wofford and holds an Ed.S. degree in marriage and family therapy. She has over 25 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and young adults in counseling. Before joining the Wofford Wellness Center staff in 2011, she worked in community mental health, which allowed her to be a mentor to Wofford psychology majors and a visiting lecturer in the clinical psychology course, as well as become an advocate for disability rights. Henson’s clinical orientation involves family systems and person-centered theories. She is a mindfulness and meditation instructor and also is trained in brainspotting, an evidence-based treatment for emotional/body pain, trauma and other challenging symptoms.

Kellie Buckner

Assistant Director of Counseling

Kellie Nakatsu Buckner grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York state until she was 12 and moved to Simpsonville, South Carolina. Since then, she has mostly lived in the Upstate of South Carolina. Buckner received a B.S. in biology from Wofford in 2001. She graduated from Converse College in 2005 with an Ed.S. in marriage and family therapy. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has worked at Wofford since 2011. Prior to that, she worked in both private practice and agency settings. Buckner has trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and accelerated resolution therapy (ART) and practices an integrative approach to therapy. While she has worked with children, adults and couples in both agency and private practice settings, she really loves working with college-aged people because she recognizes what an important time it is in many peoples’ lives.

Tye Tindal

Tye Tindal

Mental Health Counselor

Tye Tindal was born and raised in Charleston, S.C. He graduated from Wofford College in 2008, where he double majored in psychology and sociology. He received his master’s degree in counselor education from Clemson University in 2010. Before joining the Wofford staff in April of 2023, Tindal worked for Spartanburg School District 7, serving as both a mental health counselor and the eventual clinical director of the therapy program. He has over 12 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and young adults in the counseling field.  He is a licensed professional counselor and a certified mental health first aid Instructor. Tindal has training and/or experience in nonviolent crisis intervention, threat risk assessment policy and procedure, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness, among others.

Tiara Woney

Mental Health Counselor

Tiara Woney grew up in The Bronx, New York. She moved to South Carolina in 2015 to pursue her master’s of marriage and family therapy degree from Converse College. She has a B.A. in family and consumer science, with a concentration in human development and family studies, as well as a minor in student personnel and counseling from Queens College in Flushing, New York. Woney is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in advanced studies in human behavior at Capella University. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has been a mental health counselor at Wofford College since April 2020. Woney has training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), brainspotting (phase I), and she is a certified mental health first aid instructor.
