The Boren Scholarship is sponsored by National Security Education Program. The Boren Scholarship program is for students conducting intensive language study in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East. Typically, students must participate in a study abroad program that is at least six months in length to be considered competitive. Boren Scholars must work for the federal government for at least one year after graduation.
