In accordance with the provisions of Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Wofford College seeks to provide qualified students with reasonable accommodations needed to ensure equal access to the academic courses, programs and activities of the college.
The process for accommodating disabilities can be different in college than in high school. Please see the following chart for a complete comparison: https://www.wofford.edu/wofford.edu/documents/student-experiences/wellness-center/accessibility/comparison-chart-hs-vs-college.pdf
If you would like to have an informational meeting with an accessibility services representative as you weigh your college options, please email accessibilityservices@wofford.edu. We are available for virtual Zoom meetings, phone calls or email, and we would be happy to speak with you and your family.
June 15: Special housing requests must be finalized by this date to guarantee requested accommodations related to housing. Requests finalized after this date will be considered but may not be accommodated for fall.
July 15: Meal plan exceptions must be finalized by this date to guarantee full adjusted bill rate for the fall semester. Requests finalized after this date may reflect some charges for the meal plan.
Aug. 15: Academic accommodations must be finalized by this date to guarantee having accommodations in place on the first day of class.
Requests for accommodations can be initiated once a student has been accepted and made the decision to attend Wofford. Email accessibilityservices@wofford.edu to get directions on moving forward with a request. Within the request will be a place to upload documentation of the diagnosis. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain and pay for the documentation.
Some accommodations require significant planning; therefore, students should begin the process well in advance (refer to dates to consider). Students should submit their documentation as soon as possible.
